Step inside law enforcement with Huntsville Police’s citizens academy

The  Huntsville Police Department  seeks applications for its Citizens Police Academy, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and a firsthand glimpse at how the department operates.

The academy is a dynamic, hands-on program designed to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community. Participants will gain insight into the operations, policies and challenges of modern policing through classroom sessions, interactive activities and ride-alongs with Huntsville police officers.

Classes will be held weekly at the Huntsville Public Safety Training Academy, 5365 Triana Blvd., beginning Tuesday, April 29. The nine-week course will meet every Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. The program is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • At least 19 years old
  • Live or work in the City of Huntsville
  • Successful completion of a background check
