Job Well Done During Winter Weather

When snow began falling on Jan. 10, the City of Huntsville was ready. The Huntsville-Madison County EMA and public safety departments kept residents informed about the latest changes in weather and road conditions while Public Works mobilized to quickly clear roads to minimize impacts on residents. D5 grew by 394.93 acres when the City approved annexation of land at the southeast corner of I-65 and I-565. The landowners intend to construct a planned development with multifamily and single-family housing and commercial opportunities, similar to Village of Providence. The corridor is expected to be developed over the next two decades. The annexation makes Huntsville the 27th-largest city in the nation by land mass.

The City Council voted 4-0 to approve the amendment proposed by Council Member Jennie Robinson. Under the amendment, the City may assess a $50 fine for first-time violators.
