City awards grant funds to eight local organizations

Eight local organizations will soon receive grant funds from the City of Huntsville through a program with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Huntsville City Council voted unanimously to change the name of the City’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) back to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, a title previously used from 2008 to 2021. The National Weather Service reports an Arctic air mass will bring bitterly cold temperatures to the area this weekend, leading to dangerous wind chills by the morning of Monday, Jan. 20. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) continues to investigate the case of Ronald Leslie Dumas Jr., who has been missing for over a month since his disappearance was first reported. The 37-year-old was last heard from on Dec. 15. Dumas’ car was found on I-40 in Camden, Tennessee on Dec. 16.
