Huntsville High School to Host First Race at John Hunt Running Park
September 23, 2017The debut of Huntsville’s new cross country course is bringing together more than 1,000 runners to celebrate the event. The Twilight Panther Prowl Cross Country Invitational will take place Saturday, Sept. 23 at the new John Hunt Running Park, located on the site of the former Becky Peirce Municipal Golf Course. There will be street closures in the area starting at approximately 2:00 p.m. and they should be reopened by approximately 10:00 p.m. Monroe Street between Clinton Avenue and Williams Avenue will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. September 19, 2017The Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has charged Lamia Boykin, 20 of Huntsville, and Michael Fondren, 27 of Huntsville, with the September 2nd murder of 62 year old Neal Boykin. Officers responded to a home in the 2100 block of Medaris Road on September 2 for a welfare check. When they arrived they found Mr. Boykin dead. He appeared to have died from blunt-force trauma.
