Mayor Battle’s Book Club Supports Head Start, Pre-K and Kindergarten Students
May 4, 2017Mayor Battle’s Book Club celebrated its eighth year today by handing out thousands of new books to students in the City’s eleven Title 1 elementary schools. Each Head Start, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten child received four books, thanks to generous donations from 12 area sponsors – The Boeing Company, Corporate Office Properties Trust, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, Woody Anderson Ford, Cadence Bank, Science and Engineering Services, Torch Technologies, Garver, Reed Contracting, [ more ]

May 2, 2017Huntsville Police have charged Demarcus Cawthorne, 39 of Huntsville, with Domestic Violence 1st degree following a Monday night shooting on Blocker Street. Officers responded to the shooting call just before 8:00 p.m. last night. When they arrived they found a female outside the home with a gunshot wound to the leg. May 1, 2017Huntsville Police Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating a felony theft suspect. On March 17, a brass sculpture valued at $28,000 was damaged and pieces stolen from Ditto Landing. On April 12, investigators recovered pieces of the brass arrowhead from the sculpture at a recycling center in Moulton, Alabama. Follow-up investigation helped investigators determine that Joshua Tunstill, 33 of Lacys Spring, was responsible for the theft. A warrant [ more ]
