Huntsville Police have released the name of the victim struck and killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of 4710 University Drive yesterday.   The victim, 33 year old Jamie Varvell of Athens, died as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a U-Haul truck.  The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed against the driver of the truck at this time.

Agents with the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) have charged 44 year old Markee Bennett of Huntsville with drug trafficking.  The arrest was the result of a search warrant served in the 2800 block of Governors Drive following a lengthy investigation involving the distribution of heroin in the area.  The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 48.2 grams of black tar heroin and 20 grams of marijuana.  [ more ]
