Setting records
The U.S. Commerce Department’s data shows Alabama exports totaled $20.55 billion in 2016, an increase of 6.4% from 2015 and an all-time record.
Exports from Alabama companies have risen 15% since 2011 and 48% since 2006.
A global situation
Alabama-made goods were exported to 189 countries in every corner of the world.

Advanced Optical Systems Inc. of Huntsville was one of eight recipients of the 2017 Governor’s Export Excellence Awards. Past Huntsville winners have included GATR Technologies, Schwarze Industries, Aladdin Light Lift, PESA Switching Systems, Line-X, and many others.
Continued success
The U.S. aerospace and defense industry set a new record for international sales in 2016, delivering $146 billion in exports, according to the Aerospace Industries Association.
