Progress is underway on the northern end of the old Grissom High School. The demolition has been completed and debris is scheduled to be removed by the end of January.  Current plans call for the library project to go out on bid in early March 2019.  Construction of the new facility is set to begin after Huntsville City Council approval of the bid package in late April 2019.

The completion of your new community library is scheduled for early summer of 2020. The South Huntsville Library is planned to be approximately 39,000 square feet with numerous meeting rooms, including an area for a much-needed conference center, a café, Maker Space, and a puppet theater for the kids.  And, spaces for books too!

While we are pleased to have over $6.6 million in donations, with $833,333 of that coming from the Redstone Federal Credit Union, we are still seeking additional funding for the completed project.  If you know of anyone who might be interested in participating in the South Huntsville Library campaign, please direct them to  huntsvillelibraryfoundation.org/south .
