Recreation Center Construction Nears

Plans are moving forward on District 5’s first recreation center. The facility will be on Martin Road, just west of Zierdt Road. The project is expected to go out for bid in February after receiving design approval from the Huntsville Planning Commission. The center will be similar to the Mark Russell Recreation Center on Taylor Road. Covering approximately 27,000 square feet, the facility will house two full-size gymnasiums as well as community meeting rooms and, as requested by residents, outdoor pickleball courts.
