New Year’s Eve Safety

The Huntsville Police Department would like to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year. Shift Patrol and the DUI Task Force will be out tonight paying close attention to roadway safety through enforcing DUI and other traffic laws such as seatbelt and speeding violations. Please plan ahead by finding a designated driver if you plan on celebrating tonight by drinking alcohol. If you suspect another motorist of DUI please give us a call and be ready to give vehicle and tag information.

We also want to remind everyone that firing guns in a celebratory manner in the City Limits is a crime. Celebratory gunfire is not only illegal it can be deadly. Shooting fireworks is also prohibited. Any organized fireworks display must have a permit issued by the City of Huntsville. Both of these activities can greatly tax our communications center and officers to handle these calls.
