Construction projects at Fern Bell Park and in Jones Valley were among the top non-residential permits issued last month. Residential construction increased year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In May, 115 housing units were permitted, 109 single- and 6 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 109.01 (Hampton Cove), where 29 units were permitted. This is a 13.9% increase over May 2016, when 101 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
194 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 98 single- and 96 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of May was 7.02 (Montview) where 60 housing units were added, all multi-family. This is an 81.3% increase from May 2016, when 107 housing units (83 single- and 24 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
