The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Alazia Na’Riya Latrice Harris, 20, of Montgomery with capital murder for a deadly shooting that happened in the 3200 block of Spool Lane around 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.
HPD officers responded to the area for an unresponsive subject lying outside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds and identified her as Naji Wiggins, 21. Wiggins was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second gunshot victim, identified as Chauncey Devon Smith, 26, of Selma, showed up at a local hospital a short time later. The individuals who transported Smith to the hospital were detained.
Upon further investigation, Major Crimes Unit investigators determined Smith was involved in the shooting on Spool Lane and learned the shooting was a result of an attempted robbery.
A capital murder warrant has been issued for Smith, who has not been booked into jail at this time and is currently receiving medical treatment for a gunshot wound.
Harris fled to Montgomery but later turned herself in to Montgomery law enforcement. She was transported to Huntsville on Wednesday, July 31, and booked into jail.
The case remains under investigation. At this time, no further information is available.
