The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Kevon Clifton, 33, with murder after a deadly shooting in the parking lot of 1024 North Memorial Parkway.

HPD officers responded to the area shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, and found an unresponsive man lying in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Major Crimes Unit Investigators believe a verbal altercation led up to the shooting. Investigators are working to notify the man’s next of kin. Pending notification, the victim’s identity will be released.

Officers apprehended Clifton walking away from the shooting scene minutes after the incident occurred. He was taken into custody without incident.

Clifton was booked into the Madison County Jail on the listed charge.

The case remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
