Major Crimes Unit arrest

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Devone Edward Modacure, 48, with murder following a shooting incident on Sunday, May 7.
HPD officers responded to the 4100 block of Knight Road around 4:40 p.m. and found Harrison Sonny Hayes, 57, with gunshot wounds. Hayes was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Major Crimes Unit Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation about money.
Modacure was taken into custody without incident on Monday, May 8. The U.S. Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted investigators with the arrest.
Modacure is currently being booked into the Madison County Jail on the listed charge. The case remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
