Local Man Arrested for Providing Support for Act of Terrorism

The Huntsville Police Department has charged Aziz Sayyed, 22 year old of Huntsville, with Soliciting of Providing Support for an Act of Terrorism.

The arrest is the result of a tip from a citizen.  Sayyed was stopped and taken into custody in the area of Church Street and Clinton Avenue this afternoon.  The Huntsville Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are jointly investigating this case, and both agencies want the community to know that this arrest eliminates any threat to the Huntsville/Madison County area, including the Redstone Arsenal.  This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
