Juvenile Arrested and Charged with Capital Murder

Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Investigators have charged a 17 year old from Huntsville, with the Capital Murder of 21 year old  Demaruis Roger Smith, 5/30/96, of Huntsville.  The murder occurred around 4 PM on Greenhill Drive on October 12, 2017.

Mr. Smith was a passengers in a vehicle that was traveling on Greenhill Drive, when several subjects shot at the vehicle.  Mr. Smith was struck once and passed away a short time later at Huntsville Hospital.  There was an ongoing dispute between the individuals involved that lead up to the shooting.  The investigation is still on going and additional arrest are expected.
