Huntsville Police arrest hit-and-run driver

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Weatherly Road and Cannstatt Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at approximately 6:45 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old male with life-threatening injuries. He was immediately transported by HEMSI to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses provided a detailed description that led to officers locating the vehicle and driver.

After investigators interviewed the suspect, Jarod Monroe Severance, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident with death or personal injury.

An update will be provided as we learn more about the victim’s condition.
