HPD Officer Arrest

A Madison County Grand Jury yesterday indicted Huntsville Police Officer William Darby on charges of murder with regard to an officer-involved shooting on Deramus Avenue in April 2018. Officer Darby was formally arrested and bonded out this morning.
The incident in question occurred April 3, 2018. Huntsville Police were dispatched to a possible suicidal person armed with a gun. When officers arrived, 49-year-old Jeffery Louis Parker was in possession of a firearm and suicidal. After refusing multiple lawful commands to drop the weapon, Parker was fatally wounded by Officer Darby.
