Council Member John Meredith appropriated $8,000 from his District 5 Council Improvement fund to two organizations that support Huntsville’s unhoused population. “I am pleased to be able to provide funding for district-based charitable organizations that serve the needs of those who, in all too many cases, find themselves unhoused through no fault of their own,” stated Meredith.
The Downtown Rescue Mission received $5,000 “to support, feed and house” the homeless, according to the resolution approved by the Council. The North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (NACH) received $3,000 to support their RISE (Restore, Invest, Support, Empower) program. The RISE program “provides hands-on, in-depth case management services for the unhoused and at-risk populations.”
