It’s time to make good on those New Year’s resolutions to shape up in 2020. To help everyone reach their fitness goals, Mayor Tommy Battle and the Healthy Huntsville team partners officially kicked off  Scale Back Alabama  today at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

Scale Back Alabama is a free program that encourages teams of two to lose weight (a goal of 10 pounds each) from the end of January to the beginning of April. The teams must register to participate, as well as weigh-in and weigh-out at the same location. Since the first challenge in 2007, Alabamians have lost more than one million pounds. To register your team, visit  scalebackalabama.com ? or download their free app.

“With the momentum of the ‘Maintain Don’t Gain’ holiday challenge, which had almost 1,500 city-wide participants this year, we are excited to continue our Healthy Huntsville effort with Scale Back Alabama,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “City employees are encouraged to weigh-in through Human Resources and many of the City’s recreation centers offer public weighing locations for easy access and participation.”

We’re excited to kick off Scale Back Alabama at the Institute and look forward to getting healthier in 2020.”
