Office and retail projects were among the list of non-residential building permits issued in February. Residential permits and CO’s both increased more than 20 percent year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In February, 173 housing units were permitted, including 143 single- and 30 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 106.21 (53 North), where 45 units were permitted, 15 single- and 30 multi-family. This is a 23.6% increase over February 2018, when 140 housing units (102 single- and 38 multi-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
89 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 76 single- and 13 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of February was 106.22 (Providence) where 18 housing units were added, 6 single- and 12 multi-family. This is a 20.3% increase from February 2018, when 74 housing units (72 single- and 2 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
