A parking garage and a hotel topped the list of non-residential projects permitted last month. Multi-family developments in west Huntsville created significant residential unit growth year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In December, 250 housing units were permitted, 100 single- and 150 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 112 (Martin-Zierdt), where 127 units were permitted, 7 single- and 120 multi-family. This is a 225% increase over December 2018, when 77 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
162 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 132 single- and 30 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of December was 212 (Greenbrier) where 38 housing units were added, 8 single- and 30 multi-family. This is a 92.9% increase from December 2018, when 84 housing units (64 single- and 20 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
