Confined Space Training and Donation of Equipment

Covanta of Huntsville, Alabama, in its continuing efforts to help improve the response capabilities of its community, is donating some much needed medical and rescue equipment to Huntsville Fire & Rescue’s Special Response Team.
Covanta Huntsville, also known as the Huntsville Solid Waste-to-Energy Facility, began commercial operations in July 1990. The Facility converts nearly 700 tons of municipal solid waste into steam daily. The steam is sold to the Redstone Arsenal for their heating and cooling needs. Covanta also recovers and recycles over 7,000 tons of metal.
At Covanta, starting on Monday May 15, 2017 and ending on Wednesday May 17, 2017. Covanta and Huntsville Fire & Rescue will be participating in three different drills, designed to help improve an emergency response to a confined space at Covanta.
On Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. all media is invited to the Facility to view the training taking place that day. A brief press conference will be held shortly after the training.
Due to most of the training taking place in a confined space. There will be pre-recorded video made available to the media.
