Published on January 5, 2022

From 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, to 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, the following locations will welcome residents:

National Weather Service meteorologists are predicting high temperatures will average in the 30s with lows in the teens Thursday and Friday. Saturday’s highs should reach the lower 50s.

The centers will follow COVID-19 protocols and require unvaccinated people to wear a mask, which will be provided. Masks are highly encouraged for vaccinated individuals. Other policies specific to each location will also be enforced.

The City of Huntsville and its nonprofit community partners are working together to open the warming centers. Weather permitting, Public Transit and the Huntsville Police Department will provide free transportation to and from warming centers during their hours of operation. First Stop , the North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (NACH) , Church of the Nativity and the City’s Community Development Office are providing personal protective equipment (PPE), supplies, sleeping cots, meals and volunteers.
