City Garbage Collection Delayed

Public Works is experiencing additional garbage collection delays this week due to the effects of bitter cold temperatures and patchy ice on some streets.

While most roads are passable, the severe cold plays havoc with the hydraulics and seals on the trucks, causing them to malfunction.

“Our crews are ready to work through the cold as long as the trucks will operate,” said Chris McNeese, Director of Public Works. “They’ll continue pickups through Friday and Saturday to gather as much garbage as possible, however, some cans may not be collected until early next week. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”

McNeese says residents should keep their trash cans curbside until crews can arrive.
