Be aware, even though the rain has stopped, the water level is still rising. Due to the Tennessee River reaching greater levels, earlier today Huntsville firefighters passed out informational flyers to the areas that could most likely be affected. The Huntsville Office of the National Weather Service is forecasting between 6 and 8 inches of rain accumulation in Huntsville and North Alabama through Sunday, February 24. City Hall and municipal offices will be closed, Tuesday, January 29, due to the winter weather and hazardous road conditions. This includes Public Transit, Handi-Ride, Municipal Court, and all municipal services and facilities. Garbage collection will experience delays for the remainder of the week. Residents should place their trash cans curbside on their regularly scheduled day and leave them there until crews can pick them up. This morning, January 25, 2019 a fire broke out at the 1300 block of North Memorial Parkway, at the Haven Inn. The fire totaled one room and the electricity to the building affected two others. The fire was ruled accidental. More information to follow later.
