Growth discussed at District 5 town hall
June 7, 2024On May 7, Council Member Meredith met with constituents at Williams Middle School at his monthly town hall meeting. Discussion focused on issues that have emerged due to the booming growth in District 5 such as infrastructure, roads and traffic. The growth has also led Huntsville City Schools to include in its capital plan a new school in Limestone County for grades P-8 that will serve students in west Huntsville.

Barger focused on the duties of the probate office in administering elections. The probate judge is the top county elections official. Barger discussed the cost and logistics of preparing for elections to accommodate the 320,000 registered voters in Madison County.

May 23, 2024A new recreation center planned for west Huntsville moved forward as the City awarded the construction contract to Chorba Contracting Corporation. Chorba submitted a bid of $7,497,058 for the construction of the one-story, 27,350-square-foot facility located on Martin Road just west of Zierdt Road.
