City of Huntsville Municipal Offices Closed for Good Friday

The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices and Municipal Court will be closed Friday, April 2, in observance of Good Friday. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, April 5. Huntsville Transit will operate a normal schedule for both Orbit fixed-route buses and Access paratransit services. Because garbage collection occurs Monday-Thursday, there will be no change to service. Recycling will also not be affected. Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle on Thursday announced the appointments of Bernita Reese as director of Huntsville Parks & Recreation and Quisha Riche as director of Parking & Public Transit. The Mayor’s recommendations were unanimously approved by the City Council. Reese fills the spot left vacant following Steve Ivey’s recent retirement, while Riche replaces Tommy Brown, who retires in June. Five Huntsville Transit operators were among those who placed at the 2021 Alabama RTAP Bus & Paratransit Roadeo competition at Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula on March 5-6. In the Large Bus division, Alvin Franklin placed first, Reychal Lewis placed second and Modjeska Eldridge placed fourth. All three employees are fixed-route bus operators for Huntsville Orbit.
