Canine Officer and Partner Take Top Honors at Regional Trials

Huntsville Police Canine Officer and partner took home top honors at recent certification trials.

The Huntsville Police Canine Unit participated in the annual United States Police Canine Association (U.S.P.C.A.) Region 22 Certification Trials, May 22 through the 25 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Twenty-eight canine teams from eleven different Law Enforcement Agencies participated in the trials. 

Huntsville Police K9 Officer Robert Glaser, and his partner Rekon, took the honors of “Top Dog” in the Patrol Dog Certification. They scored a total of 678.67 out of a possible 700 points to take first place just ahead of a team from Chattanooga Police Department that scored 675.33 points. Officer Glaser also certified Rekon in Narcotics, scoring 191.00 out of a possible 200 points. At the close of the certification, Officer Glaser also won the “Dual Purpose Dog” cup. This award is presented to the Canine Team with the highest combined score of Patrol Dog and Narcotics at the end of certification.  Officer Glaser and Rekon scored a combined total of 869.67 out of a possible 900 points.
