New office buildings in Redstone Gateway and a downtown hotel topped the list of non-residential projects permitted last month. Residential permits and CO’s both increased year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In August, 144 housing units were permitted, 132 single- and 12 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 113 (Green Mountain/Owens Cross Roads), where 25 units were permitted, all single-family. This is a 48.5% increase over August 2018, when 97 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
115 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 110 single- and 5 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of August was 109.01 (Hampton Cove) where 20 housing units were added, all single-family. This is a 27.8% increase from August 2018, when 90 housing units (all single-family) were granted CO’s.
