New industrial projects topped the list of the largest non-residential building permits issued in April. Residential permits and CO’s both increased year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In April, 439 housing units were permitted, 152 single- and 287 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 14.02 (Research Park), where 284 units were permitted, all multi-family. This is a 173% increase over April 2018, when 161 housing units (121 single- and 40 multi-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
130 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 108 single- and 22 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of April was 106.22 (Providence) where 26 housing units were added, 7 single- and 19 multi-family. This is a 5.7% increase from April 2018, when 123 housing units (86 single- and 37 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
