More activity at Mazda-Toyota and Redstone Gateway, and a new community health clinic at Oakwood University were among the non-residential permits issued last month. The number of residential units permitted decreased slightly year-over-year.
Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
In June, 128 housing units were permitted, 126 single- and 2 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 106.12 (72 West) where 18 units were permitted, all single-family. This is a 3% decrease over June 2019, when 132 housing units (115 single- and 17 multi-family) were permitted.
Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:
131 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), all single-family. The top tracts for CO’s in the month of June were 106.12 and 113.02 (Green Mountain) where 19 housing units were added each. This is a 46.3% decrease from June 2019, when 244 housing units (97 single- and 147 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
