Roadway Improvement Projects

Preliminary engineering and design are 75% complete. A public involvement meeting was held in January 2022. ALDOT is completing design. ROW is anticipated to begin in 2025 with construction scheduled for 2026.Updated Feb. 21, 2025

The City and ALDOT are working to secure additional funding as the design proceeds. The project will be constructed in phases, with the first phased being near Providence Main. Contractor Rogers Group started work in 2023. The contractor shifted all traffic to the substantially-completed service roads in late 2024 and began construction of the new mainline and overpass at Mastin Lake Road.
The project is anticipated to take more than three years to complete. Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in the 2-mile work zone.
