On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, contractors working for Huntsville Utilities Electric Operations will close Old Railroad Bed Road between U.S. 72 and Capshaw Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
This closure is the first phase of a two-phase project to add a new tie point and other upgrades to circuits in that area. Once complete, these upgrades will increase stability and allow for faster switching in case of power outages.

Detours have been adjusted to accommodate traffic flow with the closure of James Record/Martin Road between Trademark Drive and Electronics Boulevard.
The new detour for drivers traveling west on Martin Road away from Redstone Arsenal is along Trademark Drive and north along Wall Triana Highway. Drivers then turn left on Short Pike Road and left again on Laracy Drive to connect with James Record Road.

Weather permitting, Madison Street from South Side Square to Gates Avenue will close for one week beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, March 11, due to construction on the new City Hall. As a result, Fountain Circle will not be accessible from Madison Street.
Motorists are encouraged to use Church Street during the closure.
Weather permitting, the westbound lanes of Pratt Avenue from Meridian Street to just west of the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate road and railroad work on Pratt Avenue.
Traffic control will be in place to notify motorists, and businesses will remain accessible.
Weather permitting, Pelham Avenue between Davis Circle and Saint Clair Avenue will close to through traffic from 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, to 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, to accommodate utility work. Traffic control will be in place to direct traffic around the site. Drivers should use caution in the area.
Weather permitting, the Huntsville-Madison County Railroad Authority (HMCRA) will modify the railroad crossing at Green Cove Road to operate as a signalized crossing beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Motorists should use caution and obey all railroad devices and pavement markings.
Weather permitting, Huntsville Public Works will close the right westbound lane of Winchester Road, just east of Memorial Parkway, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will be repairing a drainage inlet.
Motorists should use caution and be aware of workers in the area.
Weather permitting, Westside Square (Madison Street) to Gates Avenue will be closed from Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 23, to accommodate the installation of conduit pipe. The daily closures will span from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. One lane will reopen after 4 p.m. each day.
Motorists should use caution and take alternate routes to avoid the area.
Weather permitting, temporary lane closures are planned on Green Mountain Road near South Shawdee Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Friday, Feb. 16, and Monday, Feb. 19. A pilot car will direct traffic around the work site.
