Martin Road Improvements Phase II

SUMMARY
This project is phase two of a 1.6 mile, five-lane roadway improvement from Old Jim Williams Road to Laracy Drive. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The project is a continuation of Martin Road Phase I recently completed in 2021. This phase consists of approximately 1.6 miles of new five-lane roadway from Old Jim Williams to Laracy Drive with 4-foot bike lanes and 5-foot sidewalks on each side to include a new bridge at Bradford Creek. Upon completion, Martin Road will be significantly improved for direct access from I-565 and the Airport to Redstone Arsenal.
STATUS
The roadway construction was let by ALDOT in September 2023. The contract was awarded to the low bidder, Rogers Group Inc. The roadway construction will be performed with a detour route in place for motorists to use Trademark Drive to maintain two-way traffic during construction. Construction began in April 2024 with the detour route put in place on April 1 . Construction is currently underway and will take approximately two years to complete.
