Pedestrian planning is an element of the City’s long-range or comprehensive plan. Making Huntsville pedestrian friendly through the development of a safe, convenient, and complete sidewalk system is the goal of The BIG Picture.

SIDEWALK REPAIR

The Public Works Department maintains all sidewalks within the City. Repairs are made whenever portions of sidewalk become displaced or otherwise unsafe for pedestrians. To report an unsafe sidewalk, please submit a service request through Huntsville Connect.

PROPOSE A SIDEWALK PROJECT

Citizens can propose a sidewalk project by filling out a Sidewalk Project Application Form.

Sidewalk projects will be considered if certain criteria are met. If the project is chosen, the sidewalk will be added to the City’s capital plan for the next budget year.
