Business License Renewal
Renewal licenses for businesses currently licensed by the City may be renewed for the next license year using the online Business License Renewal portal or through an online form.
Existing businesses with a change in physical location, type of business conducted or change in Federal Employer ID Number require submission of a new General Business Application .
RENEWAL OPTIONS
Choose your preferred method of renewal:
Option 1:
Submit a Business License Renewal (after Jan. 1) using the online portal*
You are eligible to renew your 2025 license through the online portal if:
- You are not changing the type of license
- You are not changing location or ownership
- You are paying for the current year only
- Your account for 2023 is in good standing
Information needed to renew and pay online:
- Username & Password
- Huntsville Taxpayer Account Number
- Huntsville Location ID
- Fee Schedule
- Actual Gross Receipts for 2024
Option 2:
Submit a Business License Renewal Form (after Jan. 1)*
Annual renewal notice reminders are mailed every December to each location that held a license for the previous calendar year. A new application is required under certain conditions.
*A Taxpayer ID number is required to renew a license.This may be found on the existing business license, , green renewal card, or by looking up the number through the City’s Business License Directory .*
You will receive an invoice from the Revenue Division with the balance due and payment instructions. After the payment is processed, your 2025 license will be mailed.

ACCOUNT UPDATES
Businesses currently licensed by the city that would like to update their mailing address of record, contact information, or close their existing account must submit an Account Maintenance Form .
