At nearly 450 acres, John Hunt Park continues to serve as Huntsville’s own “Central Park.” It is home and host to soccer, sand volleyball and cross-country championship facilities, a playground, festival site, skatepark, disc golf course, outdoor fitness court, tennis complex, ice skating/hockey rinks, mountain bike trails, baseball and softball fields, stadium and more.

Cross Country Running Trail

The championship-caliber cross-country course is a 10-meter wide, manicured grass surface course with multiple spurred loops providing various distance options including 2-mile, 5K, 6K, 8K, and 10K.


Disc Golf Course

Opened in August 2023, the 18-hole disc golf course offers both a long and short layout. The longer blue layout is designed for intermediate to advanced players, while the shorter white layout is ideal for recreational players. The course is lightly wooded and moderately hilly, with four ponds, synthetic tee boxes and DISCatcher® baskets.


Festival Site

This site, next to the Jaycee Community Building, is equipped with electricity and other infrastructure necessary to host large outdoor gatherings. For rental information, call 256-883-3728.


Fitness Court®

The outdoor Fitness Court installation features a cross-training exercise platform and artwork of world-renowned artist Keith Haring.


Get-A-Way Skatepark

This 52,000-square-foot skatepark features three bowl areas, two snake runs, a three-quarter capsule, street plaza and other unique features for skaters of all ages and skill levels. A restroom facility and water stations are available. Located at 3685 Alex McAllister Drive, the skatepark is open 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week.


Kids Space

Kids Space playground offers three themed areas, taking children on an adventure through Huntsville’s past, present and future. Special features include a sky bridge, ropes course, embankment slide, shade installations, plaza seating and more. A restroom facility and water stations are also available.


Jaycee Community Building

At 12,000 square feet, the Jaycee Community Building is an ideal size for tradeshows, receptions, and other special events. A caterer’s kitchen is available for use. Rentals also include tables and chairs. For more information, call 256-883-3728.


Joe Davis Stadium

Home to Huntsville City Football Club and Wicks Family Field, Joe Davis Stadium is a multi-sport venue. The stadium hosts high school football games in the fall and is also suitable for lacrosse. The stadium includes a press box, concessions, restrooms, locker rooms and offices.


Loretta P. Spencer Sports Complex

Two lighted championship multi-purpose fields, stadium seating, concession area, locker room and restroom facilities. Two additional championship fields are scheduled to open in late 2023/early 2024.


Benton H. Wilcoxon Ice Sports Center

This year-round, dual rink offers daily public sessions, birthday parties, and block ice rentals on two National Hockey League regulation rinks. Figure skating and hockey skill development classes are available through the Huntsville Skating School for ages three and up. The Ice Sports Center is also home to two hockey leagues. John Hunt Park Recreation Center

The 53,000-square-foot center will offer outdoor lighted pickleball courts that can accommodate tournament play, four full-size gymnasiums, a fitness center and more. The facility is currently under design.

Mountain Bike Trail

The 4.1-mile trail features over 50+ superfast machine-built berms and enough rollers to satisfy even the most adventurous athletes. The trail is bike-only, alternating directional each day, and designed and used as a NICA/ACA race site suitable for all ages and skill levels.


Raymond W. Jones Community Center

Features programs supporting senior populations including those with Parkinson’s disease. The center is scheduled to open in late 2023.


Sand Volleyball Complex

The 17-acre professional sand volleyball complex includes 15 lighted courts, pavilion, locker room and restroom facilities.


Tennis Complex

This facility offers clay and hard courts, all with lights for night play.
