In advance of Earth Day, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and members of the Huntsville Environmental Sustainability Committee (HESC) will present the results of a nine-month study during a news conference on Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m. in Big Spring Park East by the spring.
Mayor Battle tasked the HESC with reviewing and updating an environmental report produced in 2010 and providing the City an actionable program for moving forward with communitywide sustainability efforts. The goal is for Huntsville to create and maintain a healthy environment and thriving economy that is equitable for present and future generations.
The committee broke down their assignment into six sustainability sectors: Natural Environment, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation, Food Security and Environmental Justice.
