Mayor Tommy Battle, North Huntsville Library Campaign Chair Kim Lewis, Huntsville Public Library Executive Director Laurel Best, major donors and friends will hold a construction update on Monday, Feb. 3, at the site of the new North Huntsville Public Library on Sparkman Drive. The outdated Bessie K Russell branch, occupying just 1,700 square feet, is making way for a new 19,000-square-foot facility. Designed to meet the information-seeking needs of residents, it will have state-of-the-art technology, a café, children’s reading areas, interactive literacy center and a makerspace for entrepreneurs.
Best of all, the library will be located next to a new City park which will feature walking trails, pickleball courts, multi-purpose fields, pavilion and children’s play areas.
