Mark McCarter, an award-winning reporter and columnist, spent 18 years with The Huntsville Times and has been a special contributor at WHNT News 19 and The Anniston Star. He is author of two books and his work has been published in Sports Illustrated, Fortune, The Sporting News, USA Today, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other major newspapers. McCarter has been enshrined in the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame and the Huntsville-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame and was four times elected as Alabama Sportswriter of the Year. He serves on the boards of the MidSouth Alzheimer’s Association, the John Stallworth Golf Tournament and Athens State Alumni Association. Along with 35 years in the newspaper industry, McCarter was senior account executive at Cohn & Wolfe Public Relations in Atlanta and vice president of Creative Resources, Inc., in Chattanooga. Mark serves as the Convention Sales Manager for the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He and wife Patricia, a senior content marketing manager at Intergraph, live in downtown Huntsville. He has a daughter Jordan and stepsons Miles and Jackson.
