Calling all artists! If you or someone you know would like to be part of Huntsville’s history and future, keep reading.
Arts Huntsville, in cooperation with the City of Huntsville, is seeking local artists for Phase II of the public art plan for the new City Hall. Specifically, the City and Arts Huntsville will select artists to be featured across four locations in the new municipal building, including:
- Security entry area on the first floor
- Prefunction area and corridor on the floor hosting Huntsville City Council offices
- Conference floor on the seventh floor hosting Mayor Battle’s office
Artwork budgets for the four featured locations range from $30,000 to $60,000. The City Hall public art projects should inspire a sense of reflection, community and/or civic engagement.
“We are excited to see what our community of local artists will contribute to this civic space,” said Arts Huntsville Executive Director Allison Dillon-Jauken. “This is an excellent opportunity for artists to celebrate Huntsville’s people, history or our natural environment through their artwork.”

Project details
The City of Huntsville broke ground on the new City Hall on April 11. The seven-story building and adjoining parking garage are under construction on a 1.8-acre site across the street from the present City Hall on Fountain Circle.
Working with Turner Construction and Goodwyn Mills Cawood, the City said the new complex will be 2 ½ times larger than the current building and bring all departments together under one roof when it opens in 2024.
Once the new City Hall opens, the current municipal building will be demolished. Mayor Battle announced this spring he will recommend to City Council the site become part of Big Spring Park.
