City agreement with Breeze Airways to lead to more destinations

Under terms of the MOU, Breeze will operate at least two weekly flights from Huntsville to Tampa, Orlando and Las Vegas for a total of six flights a week (24 flights per month). Breeze will receive $10,000 per month in base incentive payment to meet that threshold.
To achieve a bonus incentive payment of $10,000, Breeze must provide two flights weekly (eight flights per month) from Huntsville to at least two additional destinations. Bonus incentive destinations are New York (Newark), Los Angeles and Charleston. The bonus incentive payment is capped at two destinations, though Breeze could add more flights.
With the MOU, six new direct non-stop destinations and a minimum of 384 additional flights per year will be available at the Huntsville airport.
The duration of the MOU is 24 months. The City has the option to extend the MOU for one year as long as the incentive payments do not exceed $360,000 for any 12-month period.
“Breeze has been a tremendous partner with the City since it began operating out of Huntsville International Airport in 2021,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “Having a low-cost carrier operating at HSV has proven beneficial for Huntsville residents and we are excited to see the expansion of services to prime destinations.”
Airport officials said Breeze has brought down average fares at the airport while providing connections to in-demand destinations.
“When customers choose to fly Breeze, they can expect competitive fares, reliable service, and the perk of getting to their destination without having to connect at a larger hub airport,” airport spokesperson Mary Swanstrom said. “We really appreciate the investment made at HSV and the tremendous partnership by Breeze.”
