Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, May 28, contractors will close a short segment of Church Street, south of Wheeler Avenue and north of Cleveland Avenue, for a period of three months to continue with the new bridge construction across Pinhook Creek.
Wheeler Avenue and Cleveland Avenue will remain open and accessible from Church Street to local traffic throughout the bridge closure. Jefferson Street and Monroe Street will also remain open as the detour route during this closure.

Weather permitting, contractors will begin milling and repaving Clinton Avenue, from Triana Boulevard to Woodson Street, beginning Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 24, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
At least one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open throughout the repaving process. Motorists may experience some delays and should proceed through the area with extreme caution, yielding to construction workers on site. Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

At 11:00 p.m. this evening, Huntsville Utilities Electric Operations will close Winchester Road between Homer Nance Road and Riverton Road to remove concrete utility poles.
The closure is expected to last between four and six hours.
The following detours will be in place:
If traveling eastbound on Winchester Road: turn left onto Homer Nance Road. Take Homer Nance Road to Jordan Lane and turn left. Take Jordan Lane to Ryland Pike and turn left. Take Ryland Pike to the four-way stop at Maysville [ more ]
Huntsville Utilities Water Operations has closed the westbound, inside lane of Drake Avenue between Barcody Road and Piedmont Drive for service line repair work.
Traffic will be diverted into the turning lane during this work, which is expected to last between four and six hours.
Motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible.

Weather permitting, beginning Wednesday, April 17, at 9 a.m., the contractor will begin work at the intersection of Madison Boulevard and Zierdt Road/Shelton Road as part of the Zierdt Road southbound lane roadway improvement project.
The contractor will begin drainage and utility installation within the intersection of Madison Boulevard and Zierdt Road/Shelton Road.

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, April 8, through Friday, May 3, Meridian Street – between Chase Road and Drake Drive – will have temporary lane closures daily, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., for roadway and pedestrian improvements.

Clinton Avenue is getting a makeover. Downtown’s major east-west corridor, from Governors Drive to California Street, will be resurfaced in three phases over the coming months. Each segment will include pedestrian and handicap accessibility improvements.

Weather permitting; beginning Tuesday, March 26, at 9 a.m., City of Huntsville Traffic Engineering will remove the Eastbound and Westbound STOP signs on 3rd Avenue and install a NEW Southbound STOP sign on 9th Street.
This change is a result of adjacent redevelopment in the area to update traffic flow along 9th Street.
