Weather permitting, the contractor will begin roadway work between Wednesday, July 10 and Friday, July 19 on Old Railroad Bed Road north of the intersection of US Highway 72 for approximately ¼ of a mile. Traffic will be restricted to a single southbound lane of traffic along Old Railroad Bed Road toward US Hwy 72. Traffic control measures will be in place to detour northbound traffic along Old Railroad Bed Road.

Weather permitting beginning Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 9 a.m., the City of Huntsville Traffic Engineering will convert the intersection of Cecil Ashburn Drive / Sutton Road and Old Big Cove Road to operate as an “All-Way” Stop controlled intersection for new signal construction associated with the roadway project.
Motorists are advised to use caution and obey all traffic control signs and pavement markings.
Starting on Monday, July 8, ALDOT and Madison County crews will be working on Hwy 72 East between Ryland Pike and Wall Road. The work is expected to last for about 3 weeks. Drivers should expect periodic lane closures and reduced speed limits in the area for the next few weeks. Both east and westbound traffic will be affected.

Weather permitting, on Monday, June 24, contractors will begin milling road pavement on Clinton Avenue, from Woodson Avenue to Washington Street, in preparation for the final phase of resurfacing Clinton.
Resurfacing is well under way on Clinton Avenue from California Street to Washington Street and contractors expect to finish this segment by early next week.
Motorists can expect delays in the area and should proceed with extreme caution, yielding to construction workers on site. Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect nighttime single-lane closures for pavement repairs on Interstate 565 in Madison County to begin the evening of June 10, weather permitting.
Reed Contracting will perform the repairs between Exit 7 (County Line Road) and the east end of I-565 at U.S. 72 between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday nights through Thursday nights. Work is anticipated to be complete in late July.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advises motorists that Whitaker Contracting will begin nighttime resurfacing on U.S. 431/Governors Drive in Huntsville on the evening of Sunday, June 9, if weather permits.
The nearly $1.8 million project, anticipated to be complete this summer, will resurface about five miles of U.S. 431 from Old Big Cove Road to Bassett Street.

Weather permitting, City of Huntsville contractors will begin paving the northbound lanes of County Line Road between Freedom Way and Highway 72 on Friday, May 24 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Construction activity will be heavy and motorist will be required to stop and yield to asphalt trucks and paving equipment working in the area. Traffic control measures will be in place to assist motorists. Lengthy delays are to be expected and motorists are highly encouraged to take alternate routes.

Weather permitting, on Tuesday, May 28 at approximately 9 a.m., a new traffic control device at the new pedestrian crossing at Alabama A&M University on Meridian Street between Chase Road and Holloway Road/Drake Drive will be activated.
The new traffic control device is a HAWK signal (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk Beacon). This HAWK signal is used to stop road traffic and allow pedestrians to cross more safely.

At 10 p.m. May 16, Huntsville Utilities Electric Operations will close Winchester Road between Homer Nance Road and Naugher Road to remove the last set of concrete transmission poles (as part of the road widening project).
