The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists that Reed Contracting will close the existing on-ramp from Greenbrier Road to Interstate 565 eastbound at Exit 3 next week.
The closure, set to begin about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, will accommodate milling, paving and slope correction work to complete the new on-ramp. The new on-ramp is anticipated to open by late Saturday, Oct. 5.

Weather permitting beginning Saturday, September 7, at 7 a.m. until Sunday, September 8, at 5 p.m., Four Mile Post Road just east of Whitesburg Drive will be closed to through traffic for tree removal and roadway construction at the northeast corner of the intersection.
Traffic control will be in place to detour through traffic to Martha Drive and Cole Drive. Local access will be maintained for all residents along Four Mile Post Road via Martha Drive.

Contractors started work on Tuesday evening, Sept. 3, to resurface Carl T. Jones Drive, from Whitesburg Drive to Four Mile Post Road. The roadwork will be performed after peak traffic hours, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Resurfacing should take about seven weeks to complete to coincide with the re-opening of Cecil Ashburn Drive on Oct. 31.

Weather permitting beginning Monday, August 26, at 7 a.m. until Wednesday, August 28, at 5 p.m., the contractor will be closing a short segment of Holmes Avenue between Dement Street and Andrew Jackson Way for roadwork related to the Five Points Streetscape Project.
The closure is needed to perform utility work and to resurface the roadway. All businesses in the affected area can be accessed from Dement Street, Pratt Avenue, and Andrew Jackson Way during this time.

Weather permitting, contractors will close Church Street, from Monroe Street to Wheeler Avenue, on Tuesday, August 20, to continue work on the road improvement project. This segment of Church Street is expected to remain closed through Friday, September 6. All business will remain accessible.
Please refer to traffic control signs on-site and to the map below for alternate routes within the area. Additionally, some bus routes are affected by the construction.

Weather permitting, the intersection of Alexander Drive and Shades Crest Road will be modified to operate as an “All-Way” Stop-Controlled intersection on Thursday, August 22, 2019 beginning at approximately 9 a.m.
Motorists are advised to use caution and obey all traffic control signs and pavement markings.

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, August 19, contractors will start work on phase one of a road improvement project along Research Park Boulevard (State Road 255) between Old Madison Pike and Highway 72/University Drive.
The $23.5 million project will widen approximately two miles, from four lanes to six, to include an additional lane in each direction in the center with a divided median barrier. The project also includes a new bridge at Old Madison Pike and new ramps [ more ]
Weather permitting, beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 2, through 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, contractors will close a short segment of Sivley Road and Montgomery Street for contractors to perform work on the new Orthopedic and Spine Tower for Huntsville Hospital.
Traffic Control measures and detours will be in place. Motorists are highly encouraged to be aware of traffic control signage and to take alternate routes.
Weather permitting, between Friday, July 12 – Wednesday, July 17, contractors will be closing Hall Road, from Lowery to Stokes, to thru traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for sanitary sewer improvements.
Motorists are highly encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion. Traffic control, as well as detour signage, will be in place to direct traffic around the work area. Motorists need to obey all traffic control devices.
