Weather permitting; Gallatin Street between St. Clair Avenue SW and Sivley Road SW will be closed on the following weekends in September and October between the hours of 5 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday.

Weather permitting; Dr. Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard from Williams Avenue and Lowe Avenue will be closed September 22, at 12 a.m. through 7 a.m. for utility work to occur at this intersection.
Traffic control, as well as detour route signage, will be in place to direct traffic around the work area.

Weather permitting, beginning Thursday, September 17 through Friday, September 18, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily., contractors will be closing a segment of Longwood Drive where it intersects Whitesburg Drive.
The closure is to accommodate the installation of a new water line for Huntsville Utilities. Please see the map below to view the affected traffic area.

Weather permitting, on Saturday, Sept. 12, contractors will be closing Vermont Road SW between Briar Green Drive SW and Chris Drive SW. The closure will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday morning and will remain closed until 8 p.m. Saturday evening. The reason for the road closure is due to sanitary sewer improvements in the area.

Weather permitting, Saturday, September 12, workers will begin removing a large tree on California Street across from Harrison Avenue. The process is expected to take several hours.
City of Huntsville Arborist Marc Byers said a major shaft on the tree failed several weeks ago, exposing previously hidden structural defects.
“Unfortunately, the only way to address these hazards and protect traffic and surrounding property is to close the street and use a crane to remove the tree,” he said.

Until further notice, approximately 1,000 feet of the westbound lane of Corporate Drive will be closed from Old Monrovia Road to 5075 Research Drive for roadway infrastructure improvements. For further questions, please call Public Works Maintenance Division at 256-883-3944.
Weather permitting, Friday, August 28, at 6 a.m., contractors will begin to install lane shifts on Zierdt Road just north of Edgewater Drive and at the Martin Road intersection for roadwork to progress on the project. All traffic will be shifted to the existing northbound lanes (one lane in each direction) between Edgewater Drive and Martin Road.

Weather permitting, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 28 and again on Monday, Aug. 31, contractors will close Franklin Street SE between Gates Avenue and Williams Avenue SE. The road closure will begin at 8 a.m. each morning and will remain closed until 5 p.m. in the evening. The closure is necessary for crews to make sanitary sewer improvements in the area.

Weather permitting beginning Monday August 24, at 9 a.m. contractor will begin work on Jefferson Street Streetscape project between Holmes Avenue and Spring Street. This project will have periodic lane closures along Jefferson Street and Holmes Avenue as work progresses. Initially, the contractor will be closing the west side of the southbound lane on Jefferson Street between Holmes Avenue and Clinton Avenue to begin work on site.
