Roadwork Alerts
Beginning Monday, February 1, at 7 a.m., Greenbrier Road at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing will be permanently closed to through traffic for railroad improvements within the area. See map for location information.
Traffic control will be in place to notify motorists of the road closure at the railroad crossing. Motorists should use the newly constructed Greenbrier Parkway and Old Hwy 20 to access all local businesses and residents within this area.

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Weather permitting, a construction crew will conduct blasting operations at noon Friday, Jan. 29, at the intersection of Oak Dairy Lane and U.S. 231 (Memorial Parkway). The purpose of the blast is to clear rock for underground utilities for a residential development.
Northbound and southbound lanes of the Parkway will be shut down for about 15 minutes to accommodate the blasting. Northbound lanes will be closed at Green Cove Road. Southbound lanes will be closed near the 12400 [ more ]
Weather permitting, a new traffic signal at the intersection of Winchester Road NE at Friendship Lane NE will be functional beginning 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021.
Due to traffic changes at the intersection, motorists are advised to use caution and obey all signs and signals.

Weather permitting, the southbound lanes of Dr. Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard will be closed between Williams Avenue SW and Lowe Avenue SW, beginning Jan. 29, 2021, and will reopen no later than 8 a.m. Jan. 30, 2021.
The closure will accommodate utility construction at 401 Williams Ave. SW.
Traffic control, as well as detour route signage, will direct traffic around the work area. Drivers are advised to use caution.

Weather permitting, beginning Sunday, January 17, from 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., contractors will close Jefferson Street between Clinton Avenue and Holmes Avenue for roadwork associated with the Jefferson Street streetscape project.
Traffic control will be in place to detour traffic. NO THROUGH TRAFFIC will be allowed. Local access to all businesses will be maintained during this time.

Monday, Dec. 7 – Saturday, Dec. 12
Weather permitting, contractors will perform water main construction within the roadway between Clinton Avenue and Constellation Drive. Heart of Huntsville Drive will be closed to a single lane with flagmen present to assist motorists along with standard traffic control devices. Traffic will be limited to a single alternating direction with lengthy delays possible.
Motorists are highly encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Weather permitting, the signal at the intersection of US 72 and Rock Cut Rd will be taken out of service fully on Tuesday, November 24, after approximately 8 a.m.
Due to changes in the traffic operation of this intersection, motorists are advised to use caution, and obey all traffic control signs and at this intersection.

Weather permitting beginning Sunday November 22, at 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Clinton Avenue between Jefferson Street and Spragins Avenue will be closed to through traffic for construction.
Closure is needed to perform roadwork for the Jefferson Street Streetscape project.
Traffic control will be in place to detour traffic. NO THROUGH TRAFFIC will be allowed. Access to all commercial properties will be maintained.

Weather permitting, Greene Street between Holmes Avenue and Clinton Avenue, will be closed to through traffic, beginning November 18, at 7 a.m. and will reopen no later than November 20, at 10 p.m. The closure is needed for construction activities in the vicinity of Greene Street NE and Holmes Avenue NE.
Traffic control will be in place to direct traffic around the work area. Please use caution when in the area.

Weather permitting, Neeley Avenue NE between Meridian Street NW and Tracy Street NE, will be closed beginning November 10, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. and is expected to reopen on November 11, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.
The closure is needed for utility construction at 1300 Meridian Street NE.
