Rental Assistance: Funds still available for those affected by pandemic

President Joe Biden this week announced a plan to reinstate a moratorium on COVID-19-related evictions, but it’s unknown how soon it would take effect. The original moratorium expired July 31. Congress has allocated more than $46 billion in emergency rental relief since December 2020. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged Devontae Sherrod Moore, 27, with murder following a shooting incident on Monday, July 12. Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the 100 block of Indiana Street and discovered Kentonio Perkins, 22, deceased. HPD Major Crimes Unit Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation. Moore is currently being booked into the Madison County Jail with a $75,000 bond.
