Huntsville Public Transit adding app-based pay system

A pilot program coming to Huntsville Transit will make it easier for smartphone users to ride while also providing a contactless payment method for operators. The City of Huntsville presented an agreement at the Nov. 18 Huntsville City Council meeting that will allow riders to purchase fares through an app called Token Transit. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has charged 32-year-old Mannery Fletcher and Edward Pugh, 32, with Murder following an incident at an apartment in the 4500 block of Foster Ave. HPD responded to the apartment around 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, and discovered 54-year-old Christopher Martin deceased inside. After hosting a successful Fall Break Day Camp in October, Huntsville Parks & Recreation is now registering children for its Thanksgiving Break Day Camp online and in-person. As Thanksgiving approaches, Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) is issuing a plea to potential adopters and fosters seeking a furry family member this holiday season. Through Nov. 20, adult pets can be adopted for as little as $10, though some exclusions apply. Adoptable puppies and kittens are also available for as little as $50.
